Public healthcare is a vast sector which cannot cope alone without the intervention and support of the NGO sector. Cape Centre for Children, Families and Refugees in Distress has therefore developed an organizational response to the dual epidemics of HIV/AIDS and TB, including Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s).  The programme, called HIV/AIDS, TB & STI’s programmehas as its primary aim, to accompany the efforts made by the heath sector as well as government institutions, CBO’s, FBO’s and others to give an effective response through the following activities: 

  • Information Education & Communication (IEC) talks
  • Educational material and condoms distribution
  • Public events
  • Workshops (Community members)
  • Door-to-door campaigns
  • Training (peer education and partner organizations)
  • Focus group discussions
  • Support groups
  • Advocacy
  • Soup kitchen
  • Counseling

Impact
